Two years ago, we felt a calling to volunteer in Waumba Land at North Point. Despite facing tough challenges, we found hope and support in this community.

Every Sunday at 10:30 a.m., we bring comfort and joy to toddlers in room 115. We are often overstimulated and exhausted by the end of it, but seeing the kids’ smiles makes it all worth it. Travis, with his big voice and gentle heart, has become a favorite among the children. Volunteering has not only given us a sense of purpose but also connected us with friends who have lifted us up during our hardest times. This experience has truly been a blessing for our family.

Volunteering has significantly shifted my perspective. It’s made me more empathetic and understanding of the struggles others face. Seeing the resilience and joy in the toddlers, despite their own challenges, has been incredibly inspiring. It’s a reminder that even in difficult times, there’s always room for hope and happiness.

This shift in perspective has had a ripple effect across many areas of our life. It has deepened our relationships with family and friends, made us more mindful and appreciative of small moments of joy, and even influenced our professional life by enhancing my skills in patience, empathy, and teamwork.

Overall, this experience has made us more resilient, compassionate, and grateful, positively influencing every aspect of our colorful life.

You are Made For More, too. Volunteering in our church is one way you can discover the more you are made for. Ready to find out what you were made for?
